䷝ 離為火

履錯然，敬之无咎。

象曰：履錯之敬，以辟咎也。

At the outset the footsteps are confused. Keep a reverent and careful heart and there is no blame.

黃離，元吉。

象曰：黃離元吉，得中道也。

A yellow radiance — clinging to the middle way. Great good fortune.

日昃之離，不鼓缶而歌，則大耋之嗟，凶。

象曰：日昃之離，何可久也。

The light of the sun already westering. Not to drum on the pot and sing out one's allotted years is to end in the lament of old age. Misfortune.

突如其來如，焚如，死如，棄如。

象曰：突如其來如，无所容也。

It comes on suddenly, blazing up like fire, and in a moment dies away and is cast aside.

出涕沱若，戚嗟若，吉。

象曰：六五之吉，離王公也。

Tears streaming down and sighs of grief in the face of danger — the honoured one who knows fear. Good fortune.

王用出征，有嘉折首，獲匪其醜，无咎。

象曰：王用出征，以正邦也。

The king marches out and there is meritorious work: the ringleader is cut down and those merely swept along are not pursued. No blame.
