䷦ 水山蹇

往蹇，來譽。

象曰：往蹇來譽，宜待也。

To go forward is to meet obstruction; to come back earns praise — knowing the difficulty and stopping.

王臣蹇蹇，匪躬之故。

象曰：王臣蹇蹇，終无尤也。

The king's servant meets obstruction upon obstruction in the state's business, spending himself to the utmost — and not for his own sake.

往蹇來反。

象曰：往蹇來反，內喜之也。

To go forward is to meet obstruction, and so he returns, turning his care to his household.

往蹇來連。

象曰：往蹇來連，當位實也。

To go forward is to meet obstruction; he comes back and joins his strength with others, waiting until he has substance to act.

大蹇朋來。

象曰：大蹇朋來，以中節也。

In the midst of great obstruction, friends come to help.

往蹇來碩，吉；利見大人。

象曰：往蹇來碩，志在內也。利見大人，以從貴也。

To go forward is to meet obstruction; to come back brings a great harvest. Good fortune. It helps to see someone of standing.
