大哉乾元，萬物資始，乃統天。雲行雨施，品物流形，大明終始，六位時成。時乘六龍以御天，乾道變化，各正性命，保合大和，乃利貞。首出庶物，萬國咸寧。

| Third Nine | 君子終日乾乾，夕惕若；厲，无咎。 象曰：終日乾乾，反復道也。 All day long the superior person works diligently, and at night is still watchful and self-examining. Even in danger, no blame. |
| Fourth Nine | 或躍在淵，无咎。 象曰：或躍在淵，進无咎也。 The dragon may leap into the sky or stay in the depths. Read the moment — advance or hold back, either brings no blame. |
| Fifth Nine | 飛龍在天，利見大人。 象曰：飛龍在天，大人造也。 The dragon flies in the sky. The moment to show your full powers; it helps to see someone of standing. |
| Top Nine | 亢龍，有悔。 象曰：亢龍有悔，盈不可久也。 A dragon that flies too high will have cause for regret. Anything carried to excess turns into its opposite. |
| All Nines | 見羣龍无首，吉。 象曰：用九，天德不可為首也。 A host of dragons appears, none contending for first place. Everyone yields and claims no credit — great good fortune. |
