䷾ 水火既濟

曳其輪，濡其尾，无咎。

象曰：曳其輪，義无咎也。

Braking the wheels and wetting the tail — advancing slowly and with care. No blame.

婦喪其茀，勿逐，七日得。

象曰：七日得，以中道也。

The woman loses the curtain of her carriage. Do not go looking for it; in seven days it returns of itself — keeping to the centre and to what is right, what is lost comes back.

高宗伐鬼方，三年克之，小人勿用。

象曰：三年克之，憊也。

The High Ancestor attacks the Devil's Country and takes three years to subdue it. After the victory, the petty must not be given office.

繻有衣袽，終日戒。

象曰：終日戒，有所疑也。

Fine clothes with rags hidden beneath — decay concealed within abundance. Be watchful the whole day through.

東鄰殺牛，不如西鄰之禴祭，實受其福。

象曰：東鄰殺牛，不如西鄰之時也；實受其福，吉大來也。

The eastern neighbour slaughters an ox for a lavish offering, and gains less than the western neighbour's modest one — sincerity outweighs the offering itself.

濡其首，厲。

象曰：濡其首厲，何可久也。

Crossing the river and the water wets the head — ease carried so far that danger is forgotten. Danger.
