䷣ 地火明夷

明夷于飛，垂其翼。君子于行，三日不食，有攸往，主人有言。

象曰：君子于行，義不食也。

When the light is wounded, fly with drooping wings. The superior person travels to escape trouble and goes three days without eating; where he arrives, the host looks at him askance.

明夷，夷于左股，用拯馬壯，吉。

象曰：六二之吉，順以則也。

The left thigh is injured; rescue comes through the strength of a good horse. Good fortune.

明夷于南狩，得其大首，不可疾貞。

象曰：南狩之志，乃大得也。

Hunting in the south and taking the ringleader. But putting the disorder right must not be rushed.

入于左腹，獲明夷之心，于出門庭。

象曰：入于左腹，獲心意也。

Entering deep within and seeing to the heart of the darkness — and then leaving resolutely.

箕子之明夷，利貞。

象曰：箕子之貞，明不可息也。

Veiling one's brightness as the Viscount of Ji did. It profits you to hold to what is right.

不明晦，初登于天，后入于地。

象曰：初登于天，照四國也。后入于地，失則也。

Giving no light and turning to darkness instead: at first climbing to heaven, in the end falling to earth — losing the way and perishing.
