The cauldron is upended — which serves for pouring out what has gone stale. Like taking a concubine for the sake of a son. No blame. |
|---|---|
The cauldron is full — ability matched with position. My rival resents me but cannot come near me. Good fortune. |
The handles of the cauldron come loose and its use is blocked; the fine food cannot be eaten. Wait until yin and yang come into balance and rain falls, and the regret at last disappears. In the end, good fortune. |
The leg of the cauldron breaks and the prince's meal is spilled, fouling the vessel. Misfortune — the strength was not equal to the charge. |
The cauldron with yellow handles and a metal carrying ring — the virtue of the centred and correct. It profits you to hold to what is right. |
The cauldron with a jade carrying ring — firmness and gentleness perfectly matched. Great good fortune, and nothing fails to go well. |
