䷷ 火山旅

旅瑣瑣，斯其所取災。

象曰：旅瑣瑣，志窮災也。

At the start of the journey, fussing over trifles and demeaning oneself — and so drawing trouble.

旅即次，懷其資，得童僕貞。

象曰：得童僕貞，終无尤也。

The traveller finds a place to stay, carries his means with him, and gains the loyalty of a young servant.

旅焚其次，喪其童僕，貞厲。

象曰：旅焚其次，亦以傷矣。以旅與下，其義喪也。

On the journey the lodging burns down and the young servant's trust is lost. Even holding on is dangerous.

旅于處，得其資斧，我心不快。

象曰：旅于處，未得位也。得其資斧，心未快也。

The traveller finds a place for the moment and has the means to defend himself, yet the heart is not at ease.

射雉一矢亡，終以譽命。

象曰：終以譽命，上逮也。

Shooting at a pheasant, one arrow is lost — a small expense — and in the end a name and a title are won.

鳥焚其巢，旅人先笑后號咷。喪牛于易，凶。

象曰：以旅在上，其義焚也。喪牛于易，終莫之聞也。

The bird's nest burns — perched high and losing one's place. The traveller laughs first and then cries out. The ox is lost in the open country — the yielding virtue gone. Misfortune.
